Our vision
Meeting the moment
In the United States, approximately five million people have lost their SNAP benefits over the past year, including an estimated 1.5 million children.
Here in Massachusetts, 40% of households experienced food insecurity last year.
These statistics are staggering and can feel overwhelming. CMPC offers a tangible way for people to help address hunger in their own communities, through collective action, one cooking event at a time.
And there's another important dimension to our model.
According to the American Psychological Association, more than half of American adults report feeling isolated from others.
We're facing not just a crisis of food insecurity, but also a crisis of disconnection.
And Community Meal Prep Club exists at this intersection.
To put our phones aside, to go analog - and to connect with one another through meaningful service to our neighbors by preparing delicious, nourishing food.
In the uplifting space of Community Meal Prep Club, there is a sense of connection and community action that so many of us are seeking right now.
What we often hear from volunteers who are coming back to cook with us is that they're coming back for the joy.
In the past three years, we've run nearly 30 events, engaged more than 300 volunteers, and donated more than 3,000 meals…and we’re just getting started.
We're announcing our Campaign for Growth to raise the funds that will help us bring this model to more communities, engage more volunteers, and prepare more nourishing meals for neighbors in need.
