Community Meal Prep Club grew out of a personal passion and has evolved into a program that is poised to create lasting community impact.
The Mabardi and Connor Families sponsored the first Community Meal Prep Club at Food Rev Kitchen in April 2025.
Our story
Jess was offering Meal Prep Clubs through Mama Jean, her food business based in Melrose, MA.
Early on, she realized that the program — initially created to help participants prepare healthy meals for their own homes — could also serve a greater purpose: sharing meals with neighbors in need. By partnering with The Food Drive, a local food rescue nonprofit, she saw an opportunity to turn a cooking class into a meaningful act of community care.
From 2023-2025, Mama Jean led 14 Community Meal Prep Clubs to make 1,530 delicious, seasonal meals for donation to The Food Drive. Along the way, participants enjoyed cooking for neighbors, connecting with one another, and learning new, practical recipes they could bring home.
Community Meal Prep Club officially became its own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization retroactive to October 2025, when it was incorporated in Massachusetts.
